Why go to Cameron Highlands?
Cameron Highlands, in the state of Pahang, is where hot, humid Malaysia goes to cool off. At 1,500m the air turns crisp, the light softens, and the hills roll away in endless emerald waves of tea. It's a patchwork of tea estates, strawberry and flower farms, vegetable terraces and mossy cloud forest — a landscape that feels a world away from the lowland cities.
It's one of the most popular getaways from KL, a scenic (winding) 3–4 hour drive up into the mountains. Come for a couple of days of cool weather, cream-tea afternoons at a plantation, strawberry-picking and forest walks. Bring a jacket — evenings are genuinely chilly, which is half the appeal.
