Petrol cashback calculatorKalkulator pulangan tunai petrol

Malaysian petrol cards advertise up to 12% cashback. Almost nobody gets 12%, because every card puts a hard ringgit ceiling on it. Set your monthly fuel spend below and see what each card actually pays you after that cap and its annual fee.

Why the highest percentage usually loses Mengapa peratusan tertinggi biasanya kalah

A cashback rate on its own tells you almost nothing. What matters is the monthly cap, because that is the point where the card stops paying you. A card offering 12% with a RM30 cap gives you nothing beyond RM250 of fuel. A card offering 8% with a RM50 cap keeps paying until RM625.

Then subtract the annual fee. A RM195 card has to return RM195 of cashback before you are even level, which at a RM30 monthly cap takes more than half the year. A free card with a lower rate is very often ahead by December. Kemudian tolak yuran tahunan.

The last catch is the minimum spend. Most top rates only apply if you put RM1,500 to RM3,000 a month through the card in total, not just on fuel. Below that you drop to a fallback rate that can be as low as 0.2%. The table above assumes you meet each minimum, and shows you what it is.

Common questionsSoalan lazim

Which petrol credit card is best in Malaysia?

There is no single answer, because it depends on what you spend. Every card caps petrol cashback monthly, so the best card at RM150 of fuel a month is often not the best card at RM600. Set your actual spend in the calculator above and the ranking changes accordingly.

Why does a 12% cashback card pay less than a 5% one?

Because of the monthly cap and the annual fee. A 12% card capped at RM30 stops paying once you have pumped about RM250 of fuel, giving you at most RM360 a year, and if it charges a RM195 annual fee you keep RM165. A free card at 5% with a RM30 cap keeps the full RM360.

What is the minimum monthly spend on a petrol cashback card?

Most cards need between RM1,500 and RM3,000 of total monthly spend, across all categories and not just fuel, before the headline rate applies. Below that you fall to a much lower fallback rate, sometimes as little as 0.2%. Cards with no minimum are usually the safer choice unless you already put a lot through one card.

Is petrol cashback worth it at all?

For most Malaysian drivers it is worth between RM100 and RM360 a year, which is real but modest. It is worth choosing the right card if you already use one; it is not worth taking on an annual fee or changing where you pump for.

Does cashback apply to subsidised RON95?

Cashback is calculated on what you pay at the pump, so a subsidised RON95 fill earns cashback on the lower subsidised amount. Because Budi95 already cuts the price, the ringgit value of your cashback falls too, which is another reason the monthly cap rarely binds for light users.
